As a result of its continuous growth, the Bank is seeking to recruit a competent and proactive individual to join its Legal Team. The current opportunity if for a Senior Legal Officer to provide assistance and advice on legal and regulatory matters within the Bank.
The main day-to-day tasks within the Legal Department are as indicated below.

The main day-to-day tasks within the Legal Department are as indicated below.
Main Duties:
- Assist the Company Secretary / Head of Legal Department in company secretarial tasks;
- Legal administrative support;
- Draft and review agreements governing banking, payments and depositary services for clients;
- Draft and review agreements with service providers;
- Undertake legal research when required;
- Advise Management and other staff on legal and regulatory matters regarding financial services and related areas such as:
- CRD / CRR
- MiFID
- PSD
- Depositary requirements under AIFMD /UCITS;
- GDPR
- Assist with the preparation and review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;
- Make suggestions for amendments to the Bank’s policies and procedures;
- Liaison with external legal counsel;
- Keep abreast of Maltese and EU laws;
- Other duties which fall under the employee’s expertise
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with minimum 5 years of work experience;
- Professional experience in the financial sector is considered an asset;
- General Knowledge of Maltese civil, commercial and corporate law;
- Practical experience in providing legal advice;
- Experience in drafting and vetting of agreements;
- Basic knowledge of financial services legislation on in Malta/EU;
- Able to carry out research independently;
- Detailed oriented and analytical mind-set;
- Pro-active and solution oriented;
- Excellent command of English, both oral and written.
